Taiwan invited to participate at WHO Assembly as observer

Taiwan has been invited by the Director General of the World Health Organisation, to participate in the World Health Assembly, as an Observer at the upcoming meeting being held in Geneva from May 17 – 28, 2009.{{more}}

A statement issued on Wednesday by Sir Louis Straker – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said that “the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines welcomes the news.”

“St. Vincent and the Grenadines has long been an avid supporter of this move, given Taiwan’s technical capabilities and its desire to share some with the rest of the world,” the statement said.

“It is our hope that this will be the beginning of a fruitful and mutually beneficial relationship within this august body,” Sir Louis said.
