Local Police upgrade fingerprint software

A Taiwanese Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Delegation consisting of six ICT experts was in St. Vincent and the Grenadines from November 8 to 13. The main purpose of this visit was to upgrade the Fingerprint application of the Criminal Record Database System (CRDS) currently used by the Police Headquarters.{{more}} The Enhanced Online Fingerprint software was successfully installed in the Police Headquarters and several police officers received the related training courses.

Police officers can now use the enhanced Fingerprint application, which will enable police departments to scan, store, and analyze criminals’ fingerprints and store their records electronically in the computer system. It will increase the accuracy and efficiency during the enrollment processes and also help the police officers to protect and retain the criminal records. The fingerprint scanner and application will also be installed in the Georgetown police station later this year.

In addition, the Delegation visited the Ministry of Telecommunications, Science, Technology and Industry and had a meeting with the Hon. Dr. Jerrol Thompson and his staff to exchange views regarding the future e-Government cooperation between Taiwan and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
