Lightning strikes cause island-wide power outage

Severe lightning strikes during the late hours of Tuesday, August 5th, resulted in an island-wide outage on mainland St. Vincent.{{more}}

St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC), in a press release, advised customers that at 10:32 on Tuesday evening, “a lightning strike on our system caused a disruption to the supply of electricity. The electricity supply was restored shortly before 1am after prompt work by our service team. Investigations have revealed that there is no damage to our equipment following the incident”.

VINLEC apologized to customers for any inconvenience caused.
