Insurance companies recognized
Close to 20 of this countryâs insurance companies received their certificates of registration as members of the rejuvenated Insurance Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.{{more}}
The presentation, at which the companies also received copies of the code of ethics, rules and regulations and constitution, took place at a special luncheon held on Monday at The Teach Restaurant and Bar at the Kingstown Ferry Terminal.
President of the association Cecil Mckie, before handing out the documents, called for all hands on deck in order for the association to be proactive on matters concerning the insurance industry.
He said that all members should be motivated in order to deal with matters, since there are great expectations of the association.
According to Mckie, the executive is expected to among things: keep discussions on the Motor Vehicle third Party Risk Act current, facilitate Marine Insurance for clients under co- insurance arrangements, and pay closer attention to legislative requirements such as the Insurance Act 2003, The Motor Vehicle Third Party Act.
Mckie stated that the once dormant industry is now determined to move forward in a more energized mode, in a world with many varied challenges.
The members of the Insurance Association are United Agencies Ltd, United Insurance Co Ltd, The Insurance Brokers, DeFreitas Insurance Agencies Ltd, CLICO International General Insurance, CLICO International Life Insurance Ltd, West Indian Insurance Ltd, Coreaâs Hazellâs Inc. Haydock Insurance Ltd, St. Vincent Insurance, Demerara Mutual Life, CGM Insurance Brokers (St. Vincent) Ltd, St. Hill Insurance Co Ltd, The Beacon Insurance Co Ltd, Guyana and Trinidad Mutual, The Great Northern Insurance (SVG) Ltd, Metrocint General Insurance British American Insurance and Sagicor Life Inc.
