Tribute: Roy Ralph

The Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) and its main components, the Beauty Shows Committee (BSC), St. Vincent and the Grenadines Calypsonians Association Inc. (SVGCA Inc.), the Youlou Pan Movement (YPM) and the Carnival Bands Association (CBA), are deeply saddened over the passing of legendary Mas man and former band leader Roy Ralph.{{more}}
A release from the CDC on Wednesday said âRoy Ralphâs contribution to the development of the masquerade art form is well documented in the annals of our involvement of over forty years. Not only did Roy lead the Dragons to nine Band of the Year titles but he himself held the record of seven wins in the King of the Bands competitionâ.
In 1996 the then Carnival Development Committee (CDC) officially recognized Ralphâs outstanding contribution to the upliftment of Mas in particular and Carnival in general with the appropriate honouring with government granting a parcel of land to Mr. Ralph in appreciation of his magnificent achievements.
The CDC extends its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the late great Roy Ralph.
