NLC hosts awards presentation

The four and a half hour wait was well worth it for Owia resident Rachel Williams, who said a quiet prayer after realizing that she had just won a brand new Toyota Rav 4 in the latest text and win promotion offered by telecommunications company Digicel.{{more}}

Williams won from a batch of ten finalists who were selected to compete for the 2008 model vehicle, valued more than $123,000.

The finalists selected were the persons who texted the most over the six week long competition.

The finalists were each given the opportunity to select a briefcase which contained a key that would start the vehicle, and drive out of the Chamber of Commerce car park last Friday evening where the draw took place.

Williams selected case number seven of the 11 cases, which was carried by members of the Mije Modeling agency.

She was the last to try her key in the vehicle after the other nine finalists were unsuccessful in getting the vehicle started.

Friday evening’s draw was preempted by a performance package, which saw Digicel Rising Star winners Kyoka Cruickshank and Kyron Baptiste performing, along with Zolah, Kevin Lyttle, Avenue Dancers and funny man Maurice Horne. (JJ)
