Sharpes man jumps off ship, dies

A damper was placed over the Easter weekend in Bequia when one man from Redemption Sharpes lost his life.{{more}}

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of taxi cart operator Bert Gordon.

SEARCHLIGHT understands that at about 5:10 p.m. last Sunday evening in Port Elizabeth, the deceased boarded a ferry traveling to mainland St Vincent and then jumped off into the water at the harbour.

When Gordon did not surface after some time, efforts were made to retrieve him. Moments after being brought out of the water, Gordon was rushed to the Port Elizabeth Health Centre where he died.

A post mortem is to be carried out on Gordon’s body to ascertain the cause of death.
