Digicel boosts Bequia Easter Regatta
Mobile telecommunications provider Digicel has increased its financial contribution to the Bequia Sailing Club, which is the organizer of the Bequia Easter Regatta.{{more}}
The contribution this year has jumped to $7,000, which is $2,000 more than last yearâs contribution.
Digicelâs Marketing Manager Juno De Roche said this is the fourth year that her company has sponsored the event and she said that her company is extremely pleased by the enthusiasm and planning of the Bequia Sailing Club. She also wished all participants in the various sailing events success and safe navigation on the seas.
On receiving the cheque, an ecstatic Nicola Redway, who is Secretary of the Bequia Sailing Club, said everything is set for activities which sail from March 21-24.
She revealed that although some of the courses for the sailors have changed slightly, the expectations are high spirits, as boat men vie for some fantastic prizes and the prestige of being top sailors.
Redway said she expects some 35 local and regional boat fleet and some 40 sea yacht fleet to participate in the various races, but she also pointed out that many children have expressed excitement about the coconut boat race.
