Vincy models in international fashion show

Simone Francis and Catrena Hazell strutted their stuff in the Soulful Seduction Fashion Show held on February 10, 2008 in Canada. According to a release from PIC International Modelling Agency, the young ladies wore wedding gowns and party dresses from Vera Wang, Alfred Sung, Demetrios, Oleg Cassini and Rani Totman.

Francis, who was crowned Miss Marriaqua in 2007, said she believes that this is just the start of her modeling career. She stated that the experience “has taught me how to pose for the camera and the importance of taking and understanding directions.”

The other participant, Catrena Hazell, reflecting on her experience, said that she has learnt that “Everything that is done must be done in the best interest of the client, and a model’s attitude and charisma will push him or her further along the industry”.

In the press release, both models stated that what they experienced in Canada was very different to what they were used to in St. Vincent.

Jasmin Smith, local representative of the agency gave the assurance that PIC is “keeping its promise to send models out in the international arena”. She added that models could look forward to more opportunities in the future.

Last August, representatives from three local modeling agencies: Mije, Blue Angels and Image held a press conference to caution local models about participating in the PIC model call. They also questioned the authenticity of pictures on PIC’s website.(VM)
