Standing ovation for PM at Methodist Hall

He entered to a rapturous applause and a standing ovation, announced that while tested he is in good spirit, and stated this country’s case for a modern, competitive, post colonial economy.{{more}}

That was Dr Ralph Gonsalves as he addressed a two-day seminar on “The Caribbean Futures: A People’s Post Colonial Enterprise”, on February 11 and 12, at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown.

Before he made his speech, Dr Gonsalves acknowledged the challenge that he now faces, describing the situation as “the slings and arrow of misfortune” which have been put in his direction.

He told the large gathering that he is in good spirits and said that he is continuing to do his job as Prime Minister.

Dr Gonsalves then delivered the speech which he published last year June, in which he outlined the identity of the colonial economy, the post colonial economy that is being pursued, and the challenges that are attached to the pursuit.

He said that in St Vincent and the Grenadines’ case, his government is the first administration to put in place a comprehensive framework and key policies for the development of the new economy.

He said that some of the policies may encounter some problems, noting “a life without problems is not a life on this earth.” (KJ)
