Mctair, winner of the 2007-2008 C&W Sales Academy

He has a grin that almost extends to his ears, a charismatic approach to work, and it was without a shadow of a doubt last Friday that Denroy Mctair was adjudged the winner of the 2007-2008 Cable and Wireless Sales Academy.{{more}}

The 18-year-old past student of the SVG Community College edged out eight other finalists to take all at the closing ceremony at the main office branch in Kingstown.

Coming in first, Mc Tair walked away with $3,000, a brand-new laptop computer and a six-month contract with the telecommunications company.

Just as every confident person who is nominated for an award, Mc Tair had his acceptance speech already written.

The thrilled Campden Park resident said that he was thankful to Cable and Wireless for granting him the opportunity to participate in the programme that is in its second year.

When the programme commenced with 20 persons, McTair said it was no easy task competing or convincing persons to purchase cellular phones and Internet packages. He said that although it was a competition, he developed marketing skills and life long friends.

Second place went to Ronneil Jeffery, who won $2,000, and Gamal Crichton was awarded a three-month contract in the mobile department.

Featured speaker Education Officer Beverly Neptune said that such a programme helps to mould young minds for the future and also was a viable way for them to further their education.

Neptune told the participants that they must see the training they received as an ongoing process for them.

Delivering brief remarks, Chief Executive Office Angus Steele gave everyone the assurance that the programme will continue and more elements added. He told the participants that they are all winners and that they must use the knowledge and experience to develop themselves further.

The other participants were awarded certificates.
