Digicel says – ‘Yes, I can’

Digicel has pledged its support to the next Digicel Can Fest.

With some 36,000 canned food items collected from patrons who attended the first ever Digicel Can Fest Charity show, of which Reggae artist Vegas was the main act, Digicel’s Manager Sonia Polius pledged her company’s commitment to the event which gives back to the needy.{{more}}

In a press conference which was held at the Chamber of Commerce Conference room, Polius commended the team from R.O.K Real Organized Kindness Entertainment for their “entrepreneurial spirit, passion and conviction” for helping others.

The Digicel Manager also praised the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines for their generosity.

She explained, “This was an event that united many different organizations and the people of this country towards a common goal…helping the less fortunate in our society. And that is an achievement that ought to be applauded.”

Meanwhile, Managing Director of R.O.K Entertainment Romaine Reed said the idea came about from just a group of friends who would socialize together but wanted to make a difference in their society. He pointed out that while charity events were usually associated with the wealthy, R.O.K wanted to have an event where the ordinary person had the opportunity to give back.

Some of the canned food items were handed over to the Ministry of Social Development, Salvation Army, St. Benedicts Day Nursery, Mental Health Department and the Inner Wheel Club which are just a few of the recipients.
