Three-way pact for the ‘In-Time’ Project’

SVGTV has formed a partnership with the Ministry of Education and Cable & Wireless for the ‘In-Time’ Project’.

The first two components of the project: SpellTime and SumTime, will appear on SVGTV from Monday, December 3, at 5:30 p.m. daily and then repeated 6:30a.m. in the form of 5-minute mini lessons (30 mins in total), one for each level of each series. Shortly thereafter, these mathematics and literacy programmes will be augmented by HealthTime and RhymeTime, which will deal with all aspects of health-related studies and English Language.{{more}} There will also be a series of programmes for kindergarten, PlayTime.

According to Programme Manager, Maxian Harry, “these programmes are very timely and it will not only serve our children but our adults as well and if we are to succeed in the education revolution, we have to be creative in our approach to learning.” This view was supported by Candice Sealey, Head of Sales & Marketing who added that “this type of programming forms part of the company’s mission i.e. to educate and entertain”.

The ultimate goal of the project is to improve literacy and numeracy among learners all ages by bringing school into the home, and home into the school. The In-Time Project seeks to remedy, or at least alleviate, several major problems that beset many societies with regards to literacy.

Cable & Wireless have agreed to make broadband available island-wide to all the schools enrolled in the program since The In-Time Project offers learners workbooks on line.

The In Time Project will provide more than 1,500 educational video programs that will be easily available on SVGTV or on line via computers in the home and at school.
