Carnival winners get prizes
The overcast weather did not deter persons in the carnival community from tuning out in their hundreds to the cruise ship terminal for the prize giving ritual which follows every carnival season.
Saturdayâs event saw then winners from pan, kaiso and mas as well as sponsors and contributors to the just concluded 2007 Vincy Mas being recognized for their roles in this yearâs spectacle by the Carnival Development Corporation.
The majority of this yearâs winners were on hand to receive their trophies, prize money, plaques and certificates; while some, mainly the overseas based performers were noticeably absent.
Some of the groups making frequent trips to the head table to receive prizes included Band of the Year KFC SVG Players International, Blondie Bird and Friends, JâOuvert Fanatics and Zolah.
Prizes were handed out by the Minister of Culture René Baptiste, Chairman of the CDC Dennis Ambrose, and various other sponsors. (JJ)
