Registered Nurse receives Community Service Award

Registered nurse Phyllis Payne-Dublin, who hails from Belmont, on the periphery of the bounteous Marriaqua Valley, received the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (CNR) Community Service Award at a gala ceremony, on May 14, at Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn.{{more}}

Payne-Dublin – whose husband, Basil Dublin, is co-owner of the newly-opened Golden Apple Restaurant on Back Street, directly opposite the General Post Office, in Kingstown – is currently CNR’s Associate Director of Reimbursement. CNR is a Brooklyn-based health care network.

Over the years, Payne-Dublin has held almost all executive positions, including president, of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Nursing Association of New York, Inc.

Group Heads further north to raise Funds for Kidney Relief

The Caribbean-American Renal Failure Relief Fund, formerly the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Renal Failure Relief Fund, heads north to Canada this weekend in raising much-needed funds for Vincentian kidney patients.

The group, the brainchild of New York Consul General Cosmus Cozier, stages a gospel concert on Sunday, May 27, at 4:00 p.m., at the Church of Nativity, 10 Sewell Rd., Scarborough, Ontario.

Trinidadian-born, McDonald Fest Gospel Winner Gerard Placide will headline the event, which includes, among others, Vincentian artistes Ellsworth Quammie, formerly calypsonian “Life Boy;” pannist Vin Cato; saxophonist Syl McIntosh; and Gems and Friends, a Toronto-based, Girls’ High School alumnae steel band.
