Volita Coombs told SEARCHIGHT, that at the time of the incident she had just taken her three-year old grandson to his room and was lying awake when gunfire erupted and she heard her window shatter. “I was so scared that I ran to the bathroom and closed the door,” she said.

Self-employed Handyman Dalwyn Coombs said that after he heard the window shatter he switched on the light and noted that the time was 2:40 am then went to check on the children. “Over seven shots were fired and it seems like they were exchanging fire because we heard two different sounds”, he further stated.

Mr. Coombs said that he reported the incident to the Chateaubelair police who visited the scene and took statements.

“We don’t trouble anyone and we are not involved in anything illegal, it’s a shame that you not safe in your own home these days”’ he lamented.
