SVG sympathizes with victims of the Virginia Tech tragedy

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Sir Louis Straker has extended his sympathies to those affected by the recent shootings at the Virginia Tech. University in the United States of America.

On April 16 a 23-year-old South Korean student, Cho Seung-hui shot and killed 30 people before turning the gun on himself.{{more}}

Sir Louis said it was frightening to think that a young man could have perpetuated that terrible act. He said the young man must have been “demon possessed”.

He said he had extended condolences on behalf of the government and people of this country to the University and to the USA via Ambassador Ellsworth John in the U.S. and the American Embassy based in Barbados.

“I trust nothing like that would be repeated in any part of the world,” he said. (API)
