Ministry of Education hosts Foreign language exhibition

The first-ever foreign language exhibition that took place last week was considered to be a success. This was disclosed by the Casheena Sealey, a teacher of French and Spanish at the St. Vincent Grammar School.

Despite the fact that the event was not a competition a total of 30 secondary and primary schools participated in the event.{{more}}

“More talent came out than we anticipated, there was more creativity from the students and teachers,” the Curriculum Development Officer for Modern Languages Flavia Howard told SEARCHLIGHT.

The schools had to each choose a country of their choice and make a presentation based on the country, including that country’s national dish, national dance, dress and other information pertaining to the country.

“The exhibition highlights the fact that language learning is not limited to the classrooms and textbooks but it is also a hands on experience. It affords the students the opportunity to interact and learn about the people and culture of that particular language,” Sealey told persons present on Friday.

The association is currently in the process of considering whether they want to continue the exhibition annually or biannually.

The exhibition took place from February 28 with a cultural exhibition on Friday March 1.
