PM secures 52 more Venezuelan scholarships
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has secured 52 more scholarships from the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for Vincentian students to study in that South American country.
Fifty of the scholarships are for the academic year 2008 while the other two are an addition to the 25 already awarded for the 2007 academic year.{{more}}
The scholarships were negotiated during a meeting held on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 between Prime Minister Gonsalves and Venezuela’s Vice-Minister for Caribbean Affairs.
The Prime Minister and the Venezuelan Vice-Minister and his delegation discussed several bilateral matters including education, progress on the Argyle International Airport, the Petro-Caribe Agreement, ALBA Caribe, the low housing programme, energy and air transport including LIAT.
Prime Minister Gonsalves says the Chief Personnel Officer and the Ministry of Education have already been given instructions to commence the selection of the 50 students for January 2008.
The two additional scholarships for this year are for Engineering and Surveying. Four Vincentian students are already in Venezuela on scholarships.
