Dr Gonsalves thanks Fidel Castro at his birthday bash

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves was among the persons who attended the 80th birthday celebrations of Cuban leader Fidel Castro in Cuba recently. Speaking at the birthday bash, Dr Gonsalves said that Castro was one of the best leaders in the Western Hemisphere in the 20th century.

He described Castro as being a man of ideas, action, warmth, humour, and also a lover of life – “an example of Caribbean people”.

Dr. Gonsalves also spoke about all the wonderful opportunities that the president offered to Vincentian citizens including university scholarships and free health care.
