Malaysian scholarships to be announced by weekend
By this weekend the ten persons selected from the 23 that applied for the Malaysian scholarships should know of their selection. The interviews have been conducted and the candidates are set to take up their scholarships in January
Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves said that arrangements for the scholarships have been finalized with Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi. {{more}}The two met whilst at the just concluded non-aligned movement’s conference in Havana, Cuba. During Prime Minister Badawi’s visit to St Vincent and the Grenadines in May of this year arrangements were made for ten Vincentians to pursue studies at the University of the West Indies courtesy the Malaysian based Petra Foundation.
According to the arrangements made the Malaysian government will take care of the cost of accommodation and tuition while the Vincentian Government will provide food and airfare to the selected persons.
