Don’t get caught in UK Lotto scam

Have you received an email telling you that you have won the UK National Lottery?

If so, it is likely that the e-mail is a scam. A release from the British High Commission on Tuesday said that these seem to be on the increase in the Caribbean. In order to win the UK National Lottery, you have to buy a ticket for which you need a UK address. If you have not bought a ticket then you have not won!{{more}}

If the e-mail asks you to pay money to receive your prize, or to disclose personal information such as bank details or passport information then the e-mail is not genuine. The UK lottery does NOT ask for a handling fee to collect a prize, or to disclose any personal information. If the e-mail tells you how much you have won then it is NOT from the National Lottery. If the e-mail comes from a yahoo, hotmail or similar account then it is NOT from the UK National Lottery.

We strongly advise that you do not respond to unsolicited emails, never give money to claim a prize and do not reveal personal details including bank account or credit card details. If you have given money or personal details in response to such an email you should contact the police.

REMEMBER IF SOMETHING SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE THEN IT USUALLY IS!
