New Salvation Army Majors ready for challenge

Majors Henry and Paula King of The Salvation Army are the new Commanding Officers assigned to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Corps.

The Kings along with their three children, Adrian, Gregory and Adeline arrived here last Friday to take up duties. The Officers and family were officially introduced to the public at a Welcome Service held last Sunday at The Salvation Army’s Church in Kingstown.{{more}}

In welcoming the Kings, Government Representative, Minister Selman Walters commended The Salvation Army for its social work within the community and pledged his Government’s continued support for their work in SVG.

Walters, however challenged the new Officers to pay attention to the noticeably small membership of the Church. He also expressed great concerns about the low level of involvement among the young men of the society in general, and suggested to the new Officers the formation of a group for young men in the Army.

Other addresses came from representatives of the Christian Council, the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army and other members of the Kingstown and Calder Corps.

Major King in his reply expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome given to him and his family. He promised to take up the many challenges ahead and to work along with the members of his Corps in the furtherance of the Ministry.
