Three Bajans sent packing

While three Barbadian men are crying foul in their homeland after their deportation from St. Vincent last week Monday, local police say that the Bajan men’s deportation was justified. The men have since claimed that they were deported because of their nationality and that they were slapped around and beaten all about their bodies.{{more}}

Police officials told SEARCHLIGHT that Roger Hoyte and Ronald Rollins of Lammings Park, St Joseph, Barbados and Victor Eversley of Braggs Hill were deported for submitting false information to the immigration.

According to the police the three men indicated to immigration officers on their arrival in St Vincent on July 1, that they would be staying in Edinboro. They repeated the same information to members of the Rapid Response Unit when they were questioned in the area of Bottom Town. Investigations, however, revealed that the men were in fact staying at the newly established leeward community of Peter’s Hope.

SEARCHLIGHT understands that a subsequent search of the residence at Peters Hope uncovered masks and other items that can be affiliated with criminal activities, and so on Monday, July 3 the men were deported.

While the men claim that they are not criminals and promised not to return to St. Vincent carnival ever again after attending for three consecutive years, the local police are satisfied with the manner in which the matter was handled and dismissed any claim of victimization of the deported men.
