The Ministry of Tourism Youth and Sports has a new Communications Manager. Anesia Richards took up the position last Thursday June 1. Richards, a former teacher at the St. Vincent Grammar School and the Bequia Community High School, took up the position which became vacant last May.

Richards returned to the state last year, after completing a Double Master Degree in Hotel and Tourism Management in France. The 1998 Island Scholar pursued undergraduate studies in French with a minor in Linguistics at the University of the West Indies.

The Communications Manager hopes to bring the message of the importance of the tourism sector into every home within St Vincent and the Grenadines, through active and vibrant communications throughout the state.

According to her, “Vincentians need to be more informed and enlightened about the benefits of tourism to them, so they can better appreciate the sector and make more individual efforts towards its development”.

Richards says as the new Communications Manager, she looks forward to making this a reality through her work with the other units in the Tourism Department.

The post of Communications Manger was formerly held by Faylene Findlay-Scrubb who was promoted to head the Planning and Development and Research and Statistics Units as Tourism Planner.
