Walk away from conflict – Police Superintendent warns

DIVISIONAL COMMANDER of the Eastern Division of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), Superintendent, Hesran Ballantyne, has made an appeal to citizens to walk away, or count from 1-10 when faced with situations that could result in conflict.

Spt Ballantyne made the appeal in Park Hill last Thursday May 9, 2024, where he reminded residents of the old adage to walk away, or count to ten, to avoid getting involved in crime and violence.

He was among officers speaking at a community meeting which is part of a series organised by the police aimed at helping put a dent on crime. In his address to residents, Spt Ballantyne also warned about the abuse of alcohol.

“Please do not make decisions when you are drunk, or when you are angry. Later you will regret your decision, and say is rum do that.”

He warned residents to “ease up on the alcohol and walk away from situations that may have the potential to escalate into violence”.

Speaking directly to the young people, the police officer said that walking away from trouble does not mean that they are cowards.

“We in the Eastern Division do not like to hear that a crime has been committed. We do not like to hear that there has been another murder, by any means.”

The divisional commander assured residents of Park Hill that the police will work tirelessly to ensure that perpetrators of crimes are swiftly brought to justice.
