Entrepreneurs prepare for regional business seminar
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Vincentian entrepreneurs should feel more empowered to prepare for the fierce global economic challenges through an upcoming business conference, hosted by the National Industry Celebrations Committee, on Wednesday May 31 at Hilton Barbados, Needhams Point, in Barbados from 7:30am-5:00pm
Spearheaded by representatives of the public and private sectors to celebrate 50-years of Industrial Development in Barbados, the free conference, themed âIndustry Takes Centre Stage – Partnerships for Developmentâ, will provide a range of insights on the value of forming strategic partnerships.{{more}}
The conference, which will also focus on how the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME) will impact on the future of industrial development in the Region, will feature thought provoking presentations, panel discussions and question and answer sessions.
Topics for the conference include the Role of Capital Markets in Regional Economies, The Challenges and Importance of E-Commerce in Global Marketing, Regional Strategic Alliances for Global Success, The Impact of Globalisation on Developing Economies: Are We Ready, Industrial Development within the CSME, and The Importance of the Service Industry to Regional Economics.
Presentations will be delivered by a distinguished panel of local, regional and international experts. They are Gregory Solomon of Grace Kennedy USA, Dr. Marion Williams, Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados, Dr. Compton Bourne, President of the Caribbean Development Bank, Satyakama Maharaj, CEO of Sacha Cosmetics, Trinidad, and Martin Pritchard, CEO, Goddard Enterprises Ltd., Barbados.
Participants will have a rare opportunity to examine case studies of two successful regional companies: Goddard Enterprises Ltd, Barbados and Sacha Cosmetics, Trinidad. The case studies will reveal how these companies were able to develop winning partnerships to compete successfully in the globalised market.
Other insights offered will be the importance of being export oriented, benefits of forging strategic alliances, the advantages of being technology savvy, benefits of capital markets for the Caribbean, how capital markets can spur economic development, and the future of capital markets.
The official address will be delivered by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, the Hon. Ms Mia Mottley.
