SVG records two more murders

The number of murders here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the year 2006 climbed by two over the past week.

The newest victims succumbed within the space of four days. The police are still looking into the death of Ishmael Byron, a 23-year-old Campden Park farmer. {{more}}

According to a release from the Police Public Relations and Complaints Department, Byron’s body was found in some bushes on May 1, 2006 with a gunshot wound to his back. He was last seen alive April 29, 2006.

The other incident appears to be less puzzling. That surrounds the death of Codville Nedd a 35-year-old Richland Park farmer. He received a stab wound to the left side of the neck last Tuesday night. A 45-year-old man, Ralford Ranger, turned himself over to the Police the following morning, and inquiries in that matter are also ongoing.

Up to March 5 this year, St. Vincent and the Grenadines boasted a clean murder record. But since then, the rate has picked up and six homicides and one manslaughter have been keeping the local security officers occupied.
