Local Leo Club hosts Convention
It was the first Leo Convention held in St. Vincent in the history of the Leo/Lions Club and it will most certainly not be the last owing to its resounding success.
Over 50 delegates from across the region including: Dominica, St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, as well as host country St. Vincent, gathered at the Richmond Vale Academy from Friday 24th for a three-day convention much anticipated since the beginning of the year.{{more}}
Leos engaged in an HIV / AIDS Awareness workshop facilitated by Deborah Rodney of the HIV / AIDS Unit made donations to the Chateaubelair Hospital (including pillows, sutures, blood pressure testing equipment and other much-needed supplies as well as a monetary contribution), and undertook a clean up of the Fitz Hughes beach, as well as distributed brochures educating the community who the dangers of beach pollution. In addition, they completed Phase 1 of the enhancement of a bus shed in Chateaubelair. Phase 2 is expected to be completed by local Leos at a later date.
Convention Chairman, Leo Anton Jardine stated that the convention was a success, thanks to the members of the community who assisted with the different projects, especially the Manager of the Beach Front Restaurant and Bar, Mr. Esron Thompson (Saka) who did most of the groundwork to ensure the projects came off smoothly and was always more than willing to assist wherever he was needed.
