Likewise, Prime Minister Bedawi has invited Dr. Gonsalves to Malaysia again in 2006. This might be done in May or September to follow-up on certain practical bilateral matters that were discussed on Dr. Gonsalves’ recent trip to Malaysia.

Currently, Prime Minister Gonsalves is deepening this country’s relationship with Malaysia, a member of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The Prime Minister, who visited Malaysia, Singapore and London from February 24-March 10, said Malaysia with a population of 23 million people, along with Singapore (4 million persons) has moved sharply into the front rank of markets which have recently emerged.

He added that they create for St.Vincent and the Grenadines the entrance for other emerging South East Asian countries of significance such as Indonesia and Thailand.

“We must be visionary, yet practical. That is the focus of the ULP Government. Our overall foreign and domestic policies so indicate,” said Dr. Gonsalves.
