Reddock: Renew passion to serve

District Governor for District 60B of the Lions Club, Beverly Reddock, has summoned members to renew their passion to serve as she launched her 2005-06 programme last month.

Reddock noted that members would be working under the theme “Renewing the call, effecting change through service ” with a focus on diabetes and sight. She warned that to bring about effective change, passion is needed rather than half-hearted efforts.{{more}}

The newly appointed leader, in charge of clubs from Cayman Islands in the north, to Grenada in the south, and excluding the French islands, said she is pleased to manage the 60 clubs which span the 21 countries. She noted that this renewed vigour to volunteer must be fuelled by a passion to excel, serve, grow, lead, promote and perform as a lion.

Opening the cocktail event was Selmon Walters, Minister of Social Services. He commended Reddock for not only being the first Vincentian to hold the position of 60B District Governor, but for also being the first woman in the Caribbean to do so. He lauded women for being the backbone of the nation. Minister of Tourism and Culture René Baptise, decked out in African attire, welcomed the gathering from 21 countries in the language of the Garifunas, the indigenous peoples of this country and encouraged visitors here for the first cabinet meeting, to bask in the beauty of St.Vincent and the Grenadines.
