SVG Horticultural Society gets gold

The SVG contingent to the Barbados Horticultural Society Flower show has returned with gold. ‘Soufrière’s Bounty’, the title given to the SVG floral display at the recently concluded Barbados show held the 28 to 30 January 2005, received the judges nod and claimed first prize, trophy and gold medal. {{more}}

The display depicted the erupting La Soufri̬re volcano towering over an exhibition of lush flowers, fruit and vegetables Рthe direct result of the fertility of the rich volcanic soil.

Barbados’ Governor General, Sir Clifford Husbands, Prime Minister Owen Arthur and Cabinet members visited the SVG stand and exchanged greetings with the Vincentian horticulturalists. The Society said that onlookers were in “high praise of the creativity, artistry and ingenuity of the display and many were keen to purchase Vincy produce”.
