Police band brings early cheer to Fancy

The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force Band recently brought Christmas cheer to the community of Fancy.

About 25 police officers graced the community with their presence on November 27, on the grounds of the clinic.

In addition to performances by the band, two police officers, Tishorn Edwards and Corporal Daniel, entertained the villagers with solo performances.

Residents of Fancy also performed, with grade three pupil Marysha Edwards winning a monetary prize for her rendition of a Christmas parang.

Kegan Stay and Shevorne Lewis, two other residents of the area, also performed songs, with Lewis dancing, as well as singing.

According to ASP Daniel Hall, Fancy has traditionally been the first community selected for the Police Band to perform, because of the warm reception and involvement of the people.

The event, which started about 3:30 p.m., lasted until about 6 p.m., with villagers asking for the band to continue playing.

The band has also performed in Byera, Owia, Clare Valley, Georgetown, Mt Greenan and at the launch of the Nine Mornings festivities last Sunday evening.

Last night, they were in Richland Park, and this afternoon they will perform at Troumaca, beginning at 4.

The band will play at South Rivers, Sandy Bay and Peruvian Vale on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, respectively, beginning at 4 p.m.
