Pan groups ready for Panorama competitions 2014

The Youlou pan movement (YPM) has announced the names of the participating steel bands in the 2014 Junior and Senior Panorama competitions. {{more}}

There will be 10 steel bands competing in the Junior Pan Fes’ this year, five school bands and five community bands. The school bands are the Bethel High School, the Girls’ High School, St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown, South Rivers Methodist School and defending champions C.W. Prescod Primary School.

In the community based category, defending champions Starlift Steel Orchestra will come up against Genesis, North Stars, Sion Hill Euphonium and Symphonix. Junior Pan Fes’ takes place on Sunday, June 29 at the Victoria Park, beginning at 3 p.m.

Then, during the Senior Panorama, eight big bands will grace the stage: defending champions Sion Hill Euphonium, Genesis, South East, Potential, Starlift, Elite, Georgetown All Stars and Symphonix.  The Senior Panorama takes place as part of the Steel & Glitter show on Thursday, July 3. The show begins at 8 p.m. and is expected to be keenly contested.
