Soca artistes give taste of Vincy Mas 2k14

Local soca artistes were given an opportunity to test their new music before a large audience last weekend, thanks to the LIME 4G Reset Party.{{more}}

To celebrate the successful installation of LIME 4G in St Vincent and the Grenadines, thousands of LIME customers and soca lovers joined the LIME Vincy Soca Dans, Soca Monarch Skinny Fabulous and other artistes and DJs at the Victoria Park on Friday night, for an “early warm,” a taste of what to expect from LIME and the LIME ambassadors this Carnival season.

The Soca Dans, which comprise Luta the Crowd Motivator, Fireman Hooper, Shaunelle McKenzie and Hance John, touched the stage with new tracks that are guaranteed to take off over the next few months.

Luta’s “Til Morning,” already popular on the airwaves, had the crowd singing along and in a frenzy. Former Soca Monarch Fireman Hooper, who vowed to be in the running for the crown this year, belted out one of his new tracks called “Soca Man,” while Hance and Shaunelle gave the crowd a taste of their 2014 songs.

Current Soca Monarch and newest member of the LIME Ambassadors Skinny Fabulous also gave the eager audience a taste of what is to come, when he appeared on stage.

After teasing them with a number of chart toppers including “Monster,” “The General” and “Behaving the Worst,” Skinny gave crowd a taste of another expected hit called “Light Up.”

Also performing was the band K-netik, as well as “The Fettologist” Wiz Kid, who appeared in the New Song competition during the launch of Vincy Mas 2014 two weeks ago.

All performances were well received by the crowd, with patrons expressing their anticipation for the 2014 Carnival season.

The artistes and DJs were not the only ones testing the waters; LIME’s very own Shadeisha George, a contestant in the Miss SVG pageant, slated for May 31, also made an appearance on stage, and in true spirit, invited patrons to come out to the first major event of the Carnival season, and to support not only her, but the other contestants vying for the crown.

The LIME 4G Reset Party is just the tip of the iceberg, says Nikala Williams, senior marketing and corporate communications executive at LIME.

Williams said that LIME 4G will be making its presence felt at a number of shows to be staged during the Carnival season, including Black Rave, Soca Swing, H2O Soca, and of course, the various rural Carnivals and CDC hosted events.

LIME customers and Carnival lovers can also win free tickets and other prizes just by topping up their phones, paying their bills in full, as well as purchasing handsets over the next months.(JJ)
