Fya Empress in TnT’s Calypso Monarch semi-final

Former Calypso monarch here in St Vincent and the Grenadines Fya Empress is in the line-up for tomorrow’s semi-final of Trinidad and Tobago’s Calypso Monarch competition.{{more}}

Fya Empress is among forty calypsonians selected for the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO) organised event which takes place at Skinner Park, San Fernando, in southern Trinidad.

She will peform the song “Just,” one of the numbers she used to unsuccessfully defend her crown in the 2013 calypso finals here in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Fya Empress, whose real name is Lornette Reid, is the current Groovy Soca Monarch here, winning last year’s contest with “Ah Ketch It.”

Another Vincentian, Skinny Fabulous, is into next week’s final of the International Groovy Soca Monarch in Trinidad and Tobago, following a crowd-moving semi-final performance of his number “Worst Behaviour.”
