The brain child of Cornelius “Pete” Thomas, interpretations of the various traditional and contemporary carols will adorn the area, which is the gateway to capital Kingstown.

Among the carols to be depicted are “Winter Wonderland”, “Silver Bells”, “We Three Kings” and “Away in a Manger.”

Chairman of the Sion Hill Lighting Committee Leroy Llewellyn, who is making a return to the helm, said that this year, it will not just be lights, but they will endeavour to reflect the theme and keep the spirit of Christmas reflective in the portrayals.

“As the pioneers of community lighting here in St Vincent and the Grenadines, we are being creative, using the skills and the talents of the members of the community and have desisted from using prefabricated and commercial items to depict our theme,” Llewellyn quipped.

Llewellyn said the team of workers is burning the midnight oil, not just to decorate the intersection, but to laminate the lives of many at this time of year.

Friday’s ceremony is set to get going at 7:30 p.m. The invocation and devotion will be done by Pastor George Frederick .

The lights will be switched on by Aloma Cadogan, popularly known as “Fatty Dan” or “Gospel Dan”.

Cultural performances will come from the Bowmans, Man CP, Sulle, Shaunelle Mc Kenzie, Ecclesia, Strong, Curtie-C, Lord Have Mercy, and the Sion Hill Euphonium Steel Orchestra, among others.(RT)
