Mijé Fashion Bliss Easter Sunday

Mijé Personal Development and Advertising Agency is back on the scene after a three-year absence and is ready to publicly show off its stylish comeback with their Easter Sunday event, dubbed Fashion Bliss.{{more}}

The Agency’s last fashion event, Carnival Catwalk was held in 2010 and was said to be “well received.”

This weekend’s event, however, promises to be another top-class production, with a kaleidoscope of fashion, according to renowned fashion stalwart Jean Johnny-Findlay, who is at the helm of the runway event.

Ten of the region’s top fashion designers will be showcasing their collections at Fashion Bliss, which will be held on the lawns of the Media Centre of the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Designers showcasing their 2013 Spring/Summer Collections are Kimon Baptiste (Kimmysytic Clo.), Julesia Alexander (Pixie J Designs), Shari Osborne (Waddada Beads) and Charity Gorman of St Vincent and the Grenadines; Janay Raymond (Feelo’ Je) of Anguilla, Andrew Harris of Barbados, Carol Fraser (Miracle Hands Designs) of Guyana, Textile Industry Cooperative of St Lucia, Kaishah Peters of St Maarten and Shurnel Olliviere (Shurnel) of Trinidad.

“It is going to be bigger and better,” Johnny-Findlay told SEARCHLIGHT on Monday.

“If you go to the venue now and when you go there on the day of the event, you will see a total transformation. Behind the media centre is a bare area, but when we put up the tents and the various sets, the ambiance will be transformed….”

Johnny-Findlay said patrons can look forward to another top-class production from Mijé, as they will be treated to a fashion extravaganza, featuring the 10 regional clothing and accessory designers.

“From the moment they (patrons) step through the gates, they are going to have a good experience. Because it’s not just about the fashion on stage, it’s about the ambiance and all the other special treatments we have in store…,” she added.

Fashion Bliss gets underway at 5 p.m. and children will first be treated to “an amazing time”, with bouncing castle rides, face painting, ice cream, snacks and photo sessions, all of which are complimentary with the purchase of a ticket at a cost of $35.

Adults’ tickets are $60 and this will afford them the opportunity, not only to view the show, but to also mingle and enjoy cocktails and be photographed.

As the sun sets at 6 p.m., the experience of a lifetime begins, with fashion ranging from children’s clothing to African styled garments, to swimwear and even evening gowns.

Artistic production director for the event, Barbadian Kofi ‘Keemz’ Branch, told SEARCHLIGHT that Fashion Bliss caters for everyone, as he believes that fashion does not exclude anyone.

Branch explained that the event came out of the need to create a fashion show that showcases something different from Mijé’s annual event, Carnival Catwalk.

“We decided that we wanted to do something a bit bigger, something a bit more edgy and something that will keep you with current trends. I believe that working in entertainment or the image industry, you need to continuously reinvent yourself to be a trendsetter,” he said. (AA)
