Hitz 103.7 Soca Swing celebrates 11 years

With Vincy Mas launched on May 5, Hitz 103.7, a super platinum sponsor of Vincy Mas, is busy preparing for its biggest production in years- that of Soca Swing.{{more}} The mega event which is the 1st major show for Vincy Mas after Miss SVG, will be a huge celebration fete under the theme ‘Flags Overload’.

The show which was first produced in 2001, has grown from strength over the years with unique themes such as ‘Soca Survivors’, ‘Party Animals in the Soca Jungle’, ‘The Ultimate Work Out Fete’ and most recently the ‘Bacchanal Fete’. This year, according to Head of Sales & Marketing of SVGBC, Candice Sealey, ‘Flag City’, Victoria Park will be transformed into a sea of flags and a river of colours. Hitz 103.7, having launched its Carnival theme on Friday May 4th under the theme ‘Carnival Baddis’, is priding itself on being a dominant media force in Vincy Mas and as such will be offering patrons a great experience fitting for a birthday celebration.

Sealey added that ‘Flag Overload’ has many features designed to reward patrons. These include: ‘So you think you got skills’ competition, where the public is being urged to create their own flag using different flags/bedsheet/bedspread/towel/cloth and design a flag that show what Soca Swing is all about to them. They can use graphics, words or pictures, visit the Hitz fanpage (at www.facebook.com/hitz1037), retrieve the Hitz logo and place it on the flag. They can then bring the flags to Victoria Park and win mega prizes based on flag response.

In the light of the 11 year anniversary, Hitz 103.7 will also be rewarding individuals for their support of Soca Swing over the years with its: ‘Diary of a Soca Swing Addict’ which entails both a pre-Soca Swing competition on radio and a finals at ‘Flag City’, Victoria Park. Added to this is the ‘I am Soca Swing DJ Competition’ which is designed specifically for young & upcoming DJS; the djs are required to send in a demo of no less than 5 mins but no more than 10 mins of Soca. Demos will be judged and two finalists will be chosen to go head to head in ‘Flag City’ and the winner judged by flag response.

Soca Swing 2k11, will be further enhanced by Hitz 103.7 Flag Girls and a plethora of top artistes. Sealey emphasized that there will be several promotions both on Hitz 103.7 & via facebook which would be beneficial to patrons and that Soca Swing 2k12 will be a different type of carnival experience.
