Held at Cherry Hill in the North Windward community of Petit Bordel, Louie says Soca Fest is one of the most highly anticipated events of the carnival season.
Popularly known as Rudy, the former manager for the Roses Crew said this yearâs event promises to be more exciting and entertaining.
The event is scheduled for May 27, which is also Rudyâs birthday.
âItâs going to be a two in one celebration,â the promoter said with a chuckle.
Rudy explained that over the years, heâs encountered a number of hiccups while hosting the event, but is determined to continue because of the crowd the show has attracted over the years.
âIâve had to change venue on several occasions until four years ago, when I decided to lease a piece of land in Petit Bordel. As in any business, there is always unexpected expenses, but Iâve managed to prevail and continue on.
âThis is the 9th year, one year before our tenth anniversary, and you can say this year is the warm-up to our grand celebration next year,â Louie said.
Headlining this yearâs event will be Bajan soca artiste Lil Rick (Hyper Dawg) and Trinidadâs Fire Fusion, which includes Vincentian born Soca artiste residing in Trinidad, Fire Empress and her husband, Trinidadian Mr Fusion.
Local acts include LIME Soca Dans, Fireman Hooper, Luta, Poorsah, First Lady and Skarpyon, among others.(AA)
