Brother Ebony captures the 2012 Best New Song Calypso Crown

Joseph walked away with the crown with his song ‘Nothing at all’, beating out Cecile ‘Lil Bit’ Murray doing ‘Dis World in Turmoil’ into second. Derek ‘Man Sick’ Alexander, doing ‘Together as One’ and former Calypso Monach Grantley ‘Ipa’ Constance doing ‘Read More’ shared the third position.

Noel ‘Defoe’ Castello, performed well doing ‘Woodlice’ with Glenroy ‘Azarah’ Charles also giving a good account performing ‘One the Battle Field’.

Meanwhile, Vincent ‘Blakey’ Cuffy was again judged the King of Extempo beating out Aubrey ‘Ras Boo’ Burgin in the final round.

Four contenders vied for top honours including Johnny Rebel who sang on the topic ‘Arnhim Eustace’, Linton ‘Sweet 16’ Samuel on the topic ‘Anesia Baptiste’, Burgin, who selected the topic ‘The Hottest Carnival’ and Vincent ‘Blakey’ Cuffy with the topic ‘Miss SVG 2012.

Johnny Rebel and Samuel were quickly disposed off leaving Ras Boo and Blakey to battle it out in the final round.

The two went head to head entertaining the crowd, but at the end of the battle the patrons voted strongly in favour of Blakey, making him St Vincent and the Grenadines’ undisputed King of Extempo. (DD)
