But for the moment, she intends to enjoy every minute of her reign.
Representing the village of Hopewell in the Marriaqua Valley, Laborde beat out Sherika Bascombe and fellow villager Shanda John into the second and first runner up positions, respectively, for the crown in the Miss PâTani beauty pageant last Friday, June 18.
A total of six beauties graced the stage, all vying for the Miss PâTani crown.
Laborde appeared calm as the results were called, although she admitted that all did not go as planned.
Nevertheless, Laborde said that she was still pleased with her overall performance.
âWell I did my best, so I expected to win the crown,â she told SEARCHLIGHT.
The moment was one that Laborde says she will remember for a long time to come, particularly seeing that it was the first time she has entered a beauty pageant.
She also captured the âSwimwearâ and âEvening Gownâ categories.
Best Talent was awarded to Shanda John; Best Interview
went to Sherika Bascombe, and the Miss Congeniality and Photogenic awards went to Shandeen Mack.
Meanwhile, Lyn Marie Nichols, Secretary of the Marriaqua Carnival Committee, is hailing last weekendâs activities as successful.
âIt took a lot of planning, but it paid off in the end, and we are quite happy with the turn out,â Nichols told SEARCHLIGHT.
