Mijé presents ‘Vincy Couture’ on June 27

When it’s Vincy Mas in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, it also means it’s time for Carnival Catwalk, which takes place on Sunday, June 27, at the Arnos Vale Playing field (behind the Media Centre) from 6:00pm.

For the past five years, Mijé Modeling and Personal Development Agency has been producing its signature show Carnival Catwalk, a high quality fashion event which prides itself in being true to the fashion industry by showcasing both well known and rookie fashion designers and well trained models.

In that half of a decade, the fashion event has been able to attract designers and models from the United States, South America and the Caribbean region. The event has been lauded by the local and regional media as an event which brings together the essence of who Caribbean people are in one package.

In 2010, Mijé brings to you Vincy Couture, a showcase of Caribbean clothing from both well known and upcoming designers with a twist. Each collection will tell a story of a Caribbean People with a voice waiting to be heard. We will move from the office, to the party, to the bedroom and even onto the streets for Labour Day, Kadooment, and the ultimate- Vincy Mas!

This year we will feature two US based Vincentians designers, Donna Weekes (Ethel Fashions), and we will launch Saskia Skerrit. They will be joined by local designers Kimon Baptiste (Kimmistic Clo), Karen De Freitas Fraser (SOKA), Jeremy Payne (Silky Ruff), Crystal Daniel, Iasha Horne, Lisa Cordice, Shernecia Mayers, Alicia Simmons, with Fragrances providing some teasers.

Barbados will be represented by Wayne Smith, Shanika Burnett (Shakad), MIBI Resort Wear, CoBRA Swimwear, and Jillian Sprott. St. Lucian Sharon Tanner (EC Harbour) will complete the line -up.

Another new dimension to Catwalk 2010 will be a pre-show cocktail from 5:30, compliments Coreas Hazells Inc.

Other major sponsors for the event will be SVG Broadcasting Corporation, Nivea, Fitness Quest and the National Lotteries Authority.
