LIME Carnival Street Party sets Heritage Square on ‘fire’!
Heritage Square was set ablaze last Friday, May 28th, as LIME, this countryâs leading full service telecommunications provider, presented a star studded cast of Soca artistes backed by this countryâs leading band Hottsand to kick off its Carnival festivities under the theme âLIME for Living, Lime is Carnival,â with the âJust Massiveâ Carnival Street Party.{{more}}
The show started at 6pm and featured a special pan performance by this countryâs leading tenor pannists, Reajhaun Baptiste of Starlift and Rodney Small of Sion Hill Euphonium Steel Orchestra who clashed and entertained the massive crowd with a âsound-offâ to promote the National Panorama finals. Next on stage was an appearance by the Miss SVG delegates. Patrons got their final glimpse of the ten delegates just hours before they appeared at Carnival City, Victoria Park on Saturday, May 29th. Minister of Culture, Hon. Rene Baptiste, Minister of Tourism, Glen Beache, General Manager, Angus Steele, and CDC Chairman delivered brief addresses to mark the occasion.
Minister Baptiste treated the massive crowd to her rendition of âVincy Mas ah tell yuhâ, lauded LIME for the companyâs role as a partner to the CDC in promoting Vincy Mas. Said Minister Baptiste: âLIME is proving to be more than a sponsor and todayâs show of support at Heritage Square proves that the company real partner and the Ministry of Culture want to compliment and thank LIME for their continued support even in tough times.â
Minister Beache appealed to the patrons to be nice to the visitors and observe the no bottle policy throughout the season.
CDC Chairman, Dennis Ambrose, was visibly pleased and commented âthese build up shows and rural Carnival support from LIME is commended and the CDC is grateful to LIME for their support.â
General Manager Angus Steele urged the crowd to take part in the Carnival Sweepstake promotions and said âit is only through your continued support that LIME will be able to continue to support our biggest festival.â
There were also guest appearances by Syxx, Nikki, Icon, Tissa, Johnny Rebel and Gideon James who presented their 2010 Carnival Hits.
The LIME Soca Dans literally brought the house down with their blazing hits for 2010; featuring Tabia, Luta, Jamesy P, Fireman Hooper and DJ Tarrus. LIME Soca Dans had already created a tremendous impact with hits like âThrow Bad Mindâ, âSankie Pan Demâ, âBun Demâ, âSoca Boatâ and âDance the Night Awayâ.
