Anna is Rural Queen for 2009

Anna Ellis, Ms South Rivers, has been crowned Ms. Rural SVG 2009.

The highly anticipated show was held at Canouan hard court on Saturday August 1st and was part of the Canouan Carnival organized by Club Nuevo.{{more}}

This show featured only five participants, but was of a very high standard and saw the First Runner-up award going to Miss Marriaqua -Miss Patsy Richards with Miss Franco Construction East St. George Alverna Peters, taking the 2nd Runner up Position.

Ellis also took the Best Introductory Speech award, while first runner-up, Patsy Richards walked away with the Best Talent and Best Evening Wear awards. Second runner-up Miss East St. George Alverna Peters was also the winner of the Emancipation Wear and Interview categories. The best swimwear award went to Ms. Layou, Shayle Neil. The other participant was Rhesh Warner, Ms Raffles Canouan.

The Miss Vinlec Teen show was staged on Friday 31st July as part of the Canouan Carnival. In that show, Luvine Charles, Ms. Bare Necessities was adjudged winner, while Kellecia Telemaque, Ms. Planet Hollywood was 1st runner up. Second runner up was Fernella Frederick Ms. Canouan Foods Ltd.

Sunday morning saw hundreds of revellers coming out for the “Jouvert” Jump up which took the very picturesque but long route from the hard court in Grand Bay to the beach at Glossy for a beach party.

The activities came to an end late Sunday night with the street jump up and after party at Club Hollywood. Guest artistes for the weekend shows were Fireman Hooper, Alla-G, Skarpyon, Landlord and Kemisha, Demus and D. J. Fugitive. Canouan Carnival brings to an end the official activities for Carnival 2009.
