Six degrees of Problem Child

Vincentian soca artiste Shertz ‘Problem Child’ James has something in common with Hollywood actor Kevin Bacon.

The multitalented Bacon is said to be linked to almost every actor in the US movie industry in some way or the other. So much so, a game called ‘Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon’ has been developed, where players link other actors to Bacon.{{more}}

This year, James falls in a similar light, by being linked to the top three songs in the 2009 Road March competition.

Not only did the New York based artiste take the top spot in the road march competition with his crowd pleasing hit “Madd House”, but he is the writer and is featured on the third placed song “Yo Woman Butting Me,” which was also performed by Parry Jack and Ramon ‘Fryktion’ McDowall.

James indicated in a previous interview with SEARCHLIGHT that he had written the song to perform for himself, but decided to include two of this country’s top music producers.

Although he has no connection with second placed song “The Beast Leh Go”, James says he is brother to its singer, two time soca monarch Gamal ‘Skinny Fabulous’ Doyle.

This year proved another successful outing for the multitalented artiste, who was a featured attraction in all the major shows for the carnival season, and placed third in the soca monarch competition.

Last year he found himself in the same position with his song ‘For Life’.

In his first year (2007), he took the road march title for the first time with the ever popular classic ‘Party Animal’.
