King, Queen pan finalists announced
The cast of components that make up Dimanche Gras was finalized on Monday, following the successful preliminary judging of the King and Queen of the Bands costumes.
At Mondayâs highly competitive Mas on the Move preliminary competition, five mas tents are in, with the possibility of taking both titles, having qualified in the king and queen category.{{more}}
Digicel Nelson Bloc with their production Shanghai Nights, will be represented by Andre Browne in the king division, portraying Duel of Dragons, while Shaunelle Mckenzie will portray Opium: The Forbidden Flower.
Glenford Quashie, portraying Tribute to Soca Monarch Fireman Hooper is the King contestant for the band My Imagination, with Kenisha Richards portraying Miss Carival is the candidate for Queen.
From the Heineken Dragons Mas Tent Andrew Sutherland will portray Pachacuki: The Earth Shaker in the king division while Paulette Culzac will portray Mother of Gold in their Production of The Beauty and Cultures of South America.
WE FM First Caribbean International Bank Singer Lynx presentation of Signs and Wonders will be represented by Alexis Lawrence in the King division portraying Eclipse, and portraying Global Warming will be Queen Monica OâGarro.
Guinness Blondie Bird and Friends will be represented by Atiba Lockhart Portraying Jupiter and Simone Richardson portraying Galaxy on Fire in their production of Party in space.
Other King of the Bands competitors are Gordon Boucher portraying Immortal Chatoyer for Melbourne Artisans and Ezzie Roberts portraying Fireworks for Wizards Mas Tent.
In the Queens category Jenilee Glasgow will represent KFC SVG Players International with her portrayal of Exotic Bird of Paradise, and Petra Pompey will portray the riches of Queen Nefertiti for Aunt Jobes High Voltage.
Meanwhile, the Senior Panorama Championships will be contested among five pan sides.
Defending champions Digicel Rhythmix will attempt to hold on to their title against National Lotteries Authority Sion Hill, Sea Operations Starlift, Elite Steel Orchestra and Potential Steel Orchestra.
The Dimanche Gras Night is rounded out with the National Calypso Finals.
