An eye for fashion

Ever since she was seven years old, Lisa Cordice dreamt of becoming a fashion designer.

Now at age 18, Cordice is one of this country’s hottest young, up and coming fashion designers, and with her clothing line “Poshelle” featured in Carnival Catwalk 3 last Sunday at the Pirate’s Cave, Cordice is well on track for life in the glitz and glamour of the fashion world.{{more}}

In a recent interview with the Fountain resident, Cordice said that she had her fashion knack ever since she could remember. Lisa stated that she used to dress up all her dolls from the loose cloth material that her mom discarded while sewing. It was not, however, until in the fifth form at the St Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua that her friends and teachers told her to take her talent seriously.

She explained that when she was approached to do a clothing line at the show, she was blown away. She added that preparation for her first major fashion showcase was one that had her sweating beads. Lisa said that some of the models that were scheduled to model her attire dropped out and she had to do last minute preparations up to the day before the highly anticipated show.

With a broad smile, complimented by her posh earrings and well done make-up, a loud “whew” emanated from the teenage beauty’s mouth when she recalled the feeling of seeing her clothes being modeled and the thunderous applause that followed. “I was so excited about the warm reception I got, seeing it was my first ever major show.”

Cordice also candidly admitted that she felt a bit inferior coming up against the other seasoned designers from the other countries. However, she said all that negative thoughts subsided when the models hit the runway.

Born under the zodiac sign of Scorpio, the recent Art and Design graduate of the Community College stated that her inspiration comes from any and everything around her. Cordice is looking forward to a University education in the field of fashion and design.

On the other side of the coin, Cordice is just your average every day person. She enjoys music, drawing, hanging with friends, and having a good laugh. She urged young designers to learn their craft and try to develop it any way they can. “Do what you do and do it to the best of your ability.”

She expressed sincere thanks to her sponsors, Dive St Vincent, Luke Boyea, Ken Browne and Shana Browne.
