The Secret Agent is really a party animal

That’s Shertz James trying to explain the new phenomenon ‘Party Animal’ which is taking the island and the region by storm.{{more}}

The artiste, known in the entertainment world as ‘Problem Child’, was already having a prosperous carnival season with his songs ‘Galaritis’ and the infectious ‘Secret Agent’, and now ‘Party animal’ just seems to put the icing on the cake.

James said it was never his intention, but he believes the song, which borrows a sample of the ever popular 1980’s Kassav ‘Zouk’ beat will find its way into music immortality.

He said that although he never planned to be in any competition, he thinks the song is a serious road march contender.

Although the song carries a sample, there is no stipulation barring it from vying for the title of most popular song on the road, being the top song at every street bar, vehicle and at shows in the Victoria Park.

Even international artistes like Machel Montano, Peter Ram and Biggie Irie picked up the song’s rally call during their performances while here.

With regard to his other song ‘Secret Agent’, Problem Child says it’s a follow up to last year’s ‘Friend with benefits’, and a part three is planned for next year.

James says he thinks the standard of soca music has risen this year and believes it can get to higher levels if artistes and producers work more closely together.

“I am especially feeling Zolah, Skinny Fabulous and Oscar James.”

“The music this year is great”, he said. “I want to especially thank fans and the radio stations for the support that I’m getting, it means a lot to me.

James says that he has a busy schedule after carnival, already booking gigs in Canada and New York where he resides.
