No stopping young ‘Hy Rollerz’
They claim to be the number one party crew in St Vincent and the Grenadines; they say they are going to take the music industry by storm and with one hit song already on the radio, there is no stopping âHy Rollerz.â{{more}}
Hailing from the community of Calliaqua, Hy Rollerz are fifty members strong, ranging from dancers to singers.
With their song âEndless Madnessâ for Vincy Mas 2007, which has been tearing up the airwaves, they are sure that they will soon make it to the big time.
What started with drumming on the desks at Bishopâs College Kingstown and singing in front of their class since 2001, has today bourn fruit of a budding music career.
Co-founder Claudius âCheezeâ Haynes said that the main focus of the group right now is soca but they have other projects in the pipeline. He said that the group is multi talented and is family oriented. âWe are very energetic and only strive for the top.â Haynes said it was always his dream to pursue a musical career. He said that they are happy with the efforts they put into the song and they are elated with the response they are getting from the public. Haynes said his main aim is to see the group reach tremendous heights and take their music to the next level.
Lead artiste, Rodrick âTymaâ Patterson who wrote and sang âEndless madnessâ said he got his start by performing at an early age. He said the concept behind the song stems from the group, as they are what he best describes as, âParty animals.â
He said the name âTymaâ originated about a year ago, as he is never early for any event, âI am always the last to appear, when my friends and I going somewhere they would have to be calling me.â Tyma expressed his thanks to one of his musical icons, whose name coincidentally is âIconâ a rising soca star here in St Vincent. âIcon is the one who always pushed me to do what I do and I must give thanks for that.â
As for future plans, Tyma said he plans on furthering his studies in music and hopes to have a successful music career. (KW)
